A long time horizon
Golden Path Strategies is an analytics platform for patient, rules-based investing. Read every strategy’s full backtest, combine strategies into a portfolio, and get an email when something changes.
Golden Path Strategies publishes research, not advice: it shows rules and their record, and every decision stays with the reader.
Every number on the site comes from the same process. Each strategy’s fixed rules are replayed on past prices, and the newest prices are added every night. The part of a run that is already published is never recalculated to look better. How the backtests are built covers the details, and Overfitting and robustness shows how we test whether a result holds up beyond the chart it was built on.
The name is inspired by Frank Herbert's Dune series, where the Golden Path is the singular long-term vision that ensures humanity's survival across millennia. We take a similar view of markets. Most traders obsess over daily fluctuations and try to outsmart algorithms. Many of history's long-term investors did the opposite: they identified the right sectors, entered at the right time, and then did nothing for years.
In an age of AI-driven high-frequency bots, individual investors cannot compete on speed. On slow timeframes, such as the 5-day stretches every strategy here decides on, patience itself becomes the edge. The rules and their whole record are out in the open, so you can judge for yourself whether that approach suits you.
Why the 5-day timeframe
We experimented for years with sub-daily, daily, 3-day and weekly timeframes. Sub-daily and daily proved far too sensitive to false moves. Weekly was too slow to react to trend changes. The 5-day timeframe consistently struck the best balance across strategies, parameter setups and asset classes. On BTCUSD, many index strategies generate relatively few signals over long periods. That is by design: the goal is participation in the larger structural moves, not constant in-and-out activity.

Multiple strategies, one vote each
Single strategies. Each isolates one market dimension, such as trend, momentum, volume or volatility, and can be used on its own.
Index strategies. Combine several single strategies into a consensus system where they vote together before any signal is taken. The voters all read the same market’s prices, and some also its volume, so they are not independent. What differs is the angle each one takes. When trend, momentum and volume readings agree, one noisy reading is less likely to move the whole strategy on its own.
Some index strategies also run the same vote across several markets at once.
Flip a vote to see how each consensus type reacts. A simplified model for explanation.
Reading a strategy name
Index strategy names carry a letter and a number, for example Mahdi C3, Kwisatz Haderach C6 or God Emperor T9. The letter tells you how the consensus works. The number tells you how many single strategies are combined inside.
Breadth over curve fitting
Our biggest obsession has been preventing curve fitting. Strategies that look great on one chart but fall apart everywhere else are exactly what we try to avoid. We test every system across several assets, parameter setups and market regimes, and prefer strategies that do reasonably well in many conditions over those that look perfect in one. We avoid hard-coded thresholds that happened to work in one period and broke in the next.
In practice, that often means using BTCUSD as a base signal for a broader market view. Many altcoins are volatile and narrative-driven, and signals from a major benchmark have tended to hold up better than fitting each ticker on its own. You can see it yourself on the Strategies page: names that start with (BTC), such as (BTC) God Emperor T9 - ETHUSD, run the BTC signal on another coin.
Long-only, on purpose
When an exit signal fires, the strategy goes flat rather than opening a short. Shorting has generally been less attractive than long-only participation while adding a lot of risk and volatility. If you want a system that shorts every exit and trades both directions, these strategies are not designed for that.
How it works, in three steps
Most people start with one strategy and add a portfolio later, once they want to combine a few. You can look around for free, with data up to three months ago. A plan adds the latest three months, plus alerts, bookmarks and portfolios of your own.
Read a strategy's backtest
Open any strategy to read what its rules look at, in plain words. Below that you find every trade it would have made, thirteen key numbers and its account line next to simply buying and holding. You can cut the history to the last 1, 3, 5 or 8 years, switch to a log scale, or compare up to four strategies side by side. No black boxes.
Combine strategies into one portfolio
Start from one of the ready-made portfolios or, with a plan, duplicate one and make it your own. Give each strategy a weight, its share of the portfolio, and if you like add rules that shift the mix when a chosen strategy turns Long or Flat. The combined account line and its max. drawdown update as you go.
- BTC 40%

Get an email when something changes
Members can set an alert on any strategy or portfolio. When a strategy switches between in the market (Long) and out of it (Flat), or a portfolio's mix moves, you get an email. Changes are rare by design.
Signal this bar: long → flat, at the 5D bar close. Open the strategy to see the trade.
A systematic framework
Behind the platform sits a disciplined way of managing risk: participate when conditions are favorable and step aside when they are not. No guessing, no overtrading, no holding through crashes out of stubbornness. The free version shows that approach in full, up to three months ago. A plan adds where every strategy stands today and an email when one changes position, which is what you would need if you chose to follow one yourself.
That means accepting that you will miss parts of some rallies in exchange for cutting exposure during periods of weakness. Over a long enough horizon, that trade can matter more than catching every rally.
Look around for free
No plan needed. Open Strategies and Portfolios and explore every chart, number and trade up to the free cutoff date. Bookmarks, alerts and your own portfolios come with a plan. Docs walks you through every screen.

Golden Path Strategies started as a set of invite-only strategy scripts on TradingView. They remain listed on our TradingView profile as a legacy reference, but access to them is not part of the subscription. From 1 November 2026 TradingView no longer lets authors sell invite-only script access outside its own Marketplace (TradingView announcement), so Golden Path Strategies now lives here as its own platform.
